I have finally silenced my internal Public Relations team and broken the chains to witch my writing has been held down by. I have learned that we truly are our own worst enemy. My experience with my own writing has always been unsure. I have consistently doubted my ability to write before my own words could even form a full sentence. Until now, I allowed my inner editor to make all of my literary decisions; however, by allowing myself to write without the thought of consequences, I have been able to better express myself. I have come to the conclusion that many of us view writing the same way we see mathematics, structured and with a single formula with no real process. Most of us have all been slaves to the five paragraph essay; however, by allowing ourselves to do so, we have limited ourselves. We have developed literary works that are mindless and not worth writing. Being one who has thrived with this formula of writing I have been challenged to leave my structured formula behind, and allow myself to develop a real writing process. This simple challenge has brought my own literature back to life with more purpose then a simple grade. I have created a collection of works that have been developed from mindless chatter and has evolved into thought out and soul-full literary works. This collection will allow you to take a look into what is behind my writing and see the nonsense that is my writing process. As you navigate through my collection you will come across many works and will have the ability to download my writing with just click. This will allow you to see my writing in full. I hope in doing so you will not only see my nonsense, but also be inspired to reflect on your own writing and see what practices you can incorporate into your own writing.
I am currently a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I am origionally from Charlotte. I love to dance and hanging out with my friends.
This fall I had the privilege of taking University Writing with Mrs. Rothwell. I have learned a lot about my writing and the way I process my ideas. I have been able to grow in a way that has given new life to my own writing. "Show don't tell" has now become an active form of how I write. This simple technique however has completely changed my writing for the better. I have enjoyed this class immensely. |
