Writers' NoteBook
This Semester I have kept a record of my writing process. In the pages of my writers' notebook you will find all the nonsense that this course takes. This collection includes in-class free writes that have enabled me to turn off my internal editor. Within the pages of my notebook you will come across a sixty minute entry where I allowed myself to completely spill out all of my thoughts on a significant moment in my life. My writers notebook personally is the back bone of this semester and has established the overall theme of the course. Show don't tell, as well as write, write, write. With every entry you can see writing that may not have a particular structure however has allowed my ideas to flow.

Consignment TreasuresShopping at a consignment store takes patiences and luck, I may not go too often but whenever I do find myself exploring through one, I always find some kind of unexpected treasure.
|
ReflectionReflecting is a part of life. Mid semester I reflected on the lessons learned, my writing development and my future literary goals.
|
FeasibilityFirst semester can be a big struggle for a lot of freshmen students.

Consignment TreasuresAfter a fruitful encounter at a consignment store, all I could think about was a special treasure found. My sixty minute free write finally convinced me that my narrative needed to be about my day at Buffalo Exchange. Writing this narrative was extensive and after a lot of editing I finally was able to effectively apply the rule of "Show don't tell".

Midterm ReflectionHere I not only reflected on my writing and my experience in Mrs. Rothwell's class, I also was able to continue employing the rule of "show, don't tell". I also set personal goals that I have already began working on. My writing continues to improve daily and I have been able to track my growth with the help of this course.

Feasibility StudyThis study was my favorite portion of the course. Here I was able to take a look at a real problem that effects students today. I had to refine my research skills and further employ the over lapping rule of "Show, don't tell". I enjoyed interviewing the students and Mr. Lewis. This study has allowed me to continue to refine the tools i have learned in this course.

Feasibility Journal
Cultural Ethnography: Catholicism
I have decided to include this piece in my current collection because it is one work I am particularly proud of. This single piece has already been through many revisions and the project as a whole has multiple components that took extensive research and personal experiences. I feel this study also would have been able to be further edited by employing the "show, don't tell" rule.

In order to explore how other cultures define and engage with the act of literacy, I engaged with and studied a culture through first-hand participation, and composed an ethnographic research piece in which I describe how this particular culture conceives and practices the concept of literacy.
